Roger Batt, with the Idaho Weed Awareness Campaign, pulls some milfoil out of the water and explains that the algae just attaches itself to everything. He tries to pull it apart and notes that it is pretty hard to just get an actual plant out of the mass. He finally pulls a tiny piece off and explains that a small fragment like this can start a new infestation of weeds. This is why it is so important for recreational boaters to pump their bilge before entering another body of water and also clean their "boats, trailers, and watercraft."
